The Stockings Are Done!

I finished Melody's Christmas Stockings yesterday - in the nick of time. I think they turned out OK - would have been better if I'd had more time to plan the design.

This morning, I finished the 2nd sleeve of the bulky green sweater. Hopefully, I'll get the pieces blocked later today, and finish it up tomorrow.
It feels REALLY good to be getting these projects done!!!!

The Christmas Rush Is On

Wow, have I been busy!! My neighbor has asked my to knit personalized Christmas stockings for her family (a baby and 2 adults), so the needles have been a-clikin'! The big challenge in coming up with a not-to-complex pattern (given the time constraint) was how to fit baby's name (Bethany) on a not too huge stocking. I decided to use #6 needles and Encore. I figured I'd need about 45 stitches to fit the name; I'm doing 48 per side (yes.... 96 total). I must be crazy to take on this project! Anyway, I'm almost done with dad's. Hopefully I'll get started on mom's tonight.

Is it November Already??

Once again, time flies! Working a full-time job PLUS teaching 2-3 kniting classes a week is keeping me very busy. Unfortunately, this means not a lot of time for knitting :(
I am making progress on my simple pullover that I'm knitting along with my students. I've finished the back, and I'm about halfway through the front. My panda socks are taking a back seat to the sweater (for now). At my last kids' class, one of the parents suggested that I offer a Parent-Child Learn to Knit class. Wow - that makes me feel loved! So, I am aiming to teach that kind of class in the summer of 2008 (it takes a LOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG time for the community center to get the class schedules organized). In the meantime, I hope to have my sweater done in time for Thanksgiving - wish me luck!!

REALLY Long Time - No Blog

Ok, so I just got this note from blogger about the terms, conditions, yada, yada changing and here I am again. Tons of things have changed in my life since starting this blog - maybe more on that later - but one thing has remained constant: my love of knitting!!

I am still teaching classes at the Apex Community Center, and I am starting up a sweater class in my home starting Monday 10/8. I've knit quite a bit, and I hope that I'll get up the ambition to post some photos.

I started a new project just yesterday - another pair of socks! I'll be using the toe-up pattern found at http://wendyjohnson.net/blog/sockpattern.htm.

I'm using Panda Wool by Crystal Palace - yummy!!
Here's my swatch. It's not a terrific pic - think I need some new batteries in my camera!
